Migrante Canada

Migrante Canada is a dedicated advocacy organization serving migrant communities across Canada, with a significant presence in Mississauga, ON and 14 chapters nationwide. As a chapter of Philippine-based Migrante International—a global alliance spanning over 200 member organizations in 23 countries—Migrante Canada provides comprehensive support addressing the rights and welfare of migrants and their families. The organization offers direct services and referrals to assist with settlement and immigration needs, while connecting individuals to critical resources and community support networks.

Beyond individual assistance, Migrante Canada conducts extensive campaigns and advocacy work designed to bring migrant issues to public attention through forums, conferences, and multimedia platforms. The organization prioritizes education and research, operating Paaralang Migrante (Migrants School), a structured curriculum covering skills training, labour rights, Philippine national history, and the complexities of Filipino migration patterns. Migrante Canada also facilitates networking and lobbying efforts with government agencies at all levels to develop pro-migrant policies, while building coalitions with labour unions and community organizations. The organization arranges exposure tours and immersion programs in the Philippines, allowing Canadian residents and second-generation Filipinos to understand the root causes of migration firsthand. Governed by an annual Congress and 6-member Executive Committee, Migrante Canada maintains active member organizations throughout the country, including chapters in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City, ensuring coordinated advocacy and community support across all provinces.
