Migrante Alberta

Migrante Alberta is a non-profit advocacy and self-help organization dedicated to addressing the immediate issues facing migrant workers and their families in Edmonton, AB. Founded in August 2013, the organization provides comprehensive support through referrals, advocacy campaigns, and direct assistance tailored to the unique challenges migrants encounter. The organization works in close collaboration with labour unions and community-based organizations throughout Alberta to strengthen the collective voice of migrant workers. Migrante Alberta brings public attention to the plight of migrants and precarious workers through multiple channels, building broad public support and fostering pro-migrant awareness that drives meaningful change. The organization's advocacy efforts extend to dialogue with government agencies at both the federal and provincial levels, as well as direct engagement with Philippine government bodies to influence migrant policies and legislation. As part of Migrante Canada—a national alliance representing 20 Filipino migrant organizations stretching from British Columbia to the Maritimes—Migrante Alberta operates within a robust network of advocates committed to supporting all migrant workers. The organization maintains active membership in the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) and the International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS), positioning Edmonton as a hub for global migrant solidarity and cooperation.
