Makabayan Georgia, Inc. (MGI) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity organization based in Duluth, GA, dedicated to empowering Filipino-American communities and creating meaningful impact both locally and internationally. Established in May 2008, MGI operates comprehensive charitable and fund-raising programs focused on disaster response, education and human development, and community development initiatives. The organization serves the diverse Filipino-American population across Georgia—estimated at approximately 40,000 individuals—including professionals, healthcare workers, educators, and community members from all walks of life.
MGI's service offerings include the Sharing is Caring Grants Award Program, which provides annual funding to ten eligible Filipino-American organizations in Georgia to support community-focused projects addressing domestic abuse prevention, food security initiatives, and health services. The organization coordinates civic engagement activities including voter registration drives and community outreach programs throughout the Metro-Atlanta region. MGI also manages disaster relief efforts, having raised significant resources for humanitarian aid, livelihood programs, and infrastructure development in the Philippines following natural disasters. Additionally, MGI supports the annual Kalayaan Atlanta celebration on June 12th, showcasing Philippine culture and heritage to over 600 attendees.
