About Kababayan Multicultural Centre
Kababayan Multicultural Centre (KMC) is a comprehensive settlement and employment services organization serving newcomers and immigrants in Toronto, Ontario. For over 45 years, KMC has delivered essential free services designed to facilitate successful integration into Canadian society. The organization provides settlement services that connect newcomers with vital community resources, helping individuals navigate housing, healthcare, education, and social support systems. Employment services include job placement assistance, skills development, and specialized programs such as the Creating Access to Regulated Employment (CARE) for Nurses project, which has helped hundreds of internationally-trained professionals begin practicing in Ontario. KMC addresses systemic barriers to social inclusion through advocacy and targeted programming while recognizing the skills, experience, and education that newcomers bring to Canada. The centre operates with a people-oriented approach, offering multilingual support in English, Hindi, Farsi, Nepali, Spanish, and Tagalog across three physical locations and online platforms throughout Toronto. Beyond general settlement services, KMC provides specialized support for equity-deserving communities including youth, women, and seniors, with programs ranging from employment workshops to social activities combating isolation. Since 1977, the organization has served over 70,000 clients, delivering more than 11,000 services annually. All programs are delivered free of charge to eligible newcomers, regardless of immigration status—including permanent residents, refugees, international students, temporary foreign workers, and citizens. KMC's collaborative approach partners with community agencies and organizations to create a just and humane society while empowering immigrants to contribute meaningfully to Canada.
