Anakbayan Toronto

Anakbayan Toronto is a national democratic mass organization dedicated to youth advocacy and community organizing across Toronto, ON. As an overseas chapter of the larger Anakbayan Philippines movement, which boasts over 40,000 members worldwide, Anakbayan Toronto specializes in mobilizing Filipino youth and students around issues of social justice, democratic rights, and community empowerment. Since its establishment in May 2011, the organization has developed comprehensive programming focused on Philippine advocacy, grassroots organizing, and supporting the Filipino-Canadian community. Anakbayan Toronto actively conducts educational sessions on national democracy, facilitates youth engagement across multiple sectors including workers, students, professionals, and community members, and builds coalitions with allied organizations sharing similar progressive objectives. The organization welcomes Filipino youth aged 13-35 years old who are committed to advancing genuine freedom, peace, and democracy in the Philippines. Through orientation sessions, community forums, and collaborative campaigns, Anakbayan Toronto provides structured pathways for young people to develop leadership skills, deepen political consciousness, and participate in meaningful social change.
